Thought Bubble 2024 – New Books and Where to Find Us!

We’re back at Thought Bubble for the fourth year running, taking up residence in the DSTLRY Hall for the first time.

This weekend, we’ll be setting up in Harrogate for a weekend of comics and madness at the UK’s biggest comics festival. Read on to find out how to find us, and what’s new for TB2024.

New Books at Thought Bubble 2024

Kill Your Idols

In a surprise twist, James Killian has a brand new book to launch this weekend – Kill Your Idols, written and lettered by Alex Bennetts. The new thriller from the pair behind Point Blank follows Julieta Jones and indie-rockstar Kevin Snow on a tour-turned-crime spree.

The book is available from James Killian’s table, in DSTLRY HALL table C43.

This Party is… 5e Zines

New from Paul Carroll are two new zines, a first step into the world of gaming zines.

  • This Party is a Coven is inspired by Marvel’s Agatha All Along, taking the coven in the hit show as inspiration for building a party in DnD 5e – starting at 1st Level, ideal for customisation.
  • This Party is Assembled puts together a party inspired by the original six Avengers, allowing players to choose who to base their character on in a “fight like” guide – built at 1st Level, but suggested to start at 3rd Level minimum to use subclass features.

Meouch back in print!

Ever since Enniskillen in June, Meouch has been out of print. With issue three firmly underway, Paul and Gareth have brought the much-loved series about the world’s deadliest cat back into print.

We’ll have more news on the future of the series soon, but you can expect our bloodiest and most unhinged issue in 2025.

When the Blood Has Dried – limited stock available!

Gary will be at the convention on Sunday only with stock of the brand new trade paperback of When the Blood Has Dried – a few day ahead of its scheduled release in shops!

(And hey, if you have the single issues or you pick up the trade when it comes out, listen along to season 1 of The Nth Panel Grid in which Paul interviews Gary about the book issue-by-issue!)

Find creators using our guides!

With so many Limit Break and Irish creators at Thought Bubble this year, we’ve put together some maps and guides!

Projects at Thought Bubble

The convention scene in Ireland and the UK is amazing, and when creators pull together they can achieve a lot. While we don’t get to showcase our own example of that this year (normally it’s the year’s anthology!) we’re part of two other projects at Thought Bubble 2024.

Secrets of the Majestic

Everyone’s favourite fancy toilets have gotten their own comic anthology. Spear-headed by Chris Mole and co-edited by our own Gary Moloney, the book explores the hidden mysteries of the lavish toilets in the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.

Gary teamed up with Colin Craker for his story, The Fool’s Gambit, and Paul teamed up with Lane Lloyd on The Order of Majestic Awe.

There’s also an exhibition of the book in the Mercer Art Gallery in Harrogate, opening 15 November 2024 and closing 31 March 2025.

The Unofficial Thought Bubble Sticker Club

Paul is taking part in the first ever rendition of The Unofficial Thought Bubble Sticker Club, with artists from all over the convention supplying stickers as part of the project. We have a few free stickers for different folks. If you’re collecting the TUTBSC stickers, ask for Paul’s when you get to the table. Supplies are limited, but the sticker is free!

Find Gary on a panel!

On Sunday, Gary will be taking part in a panel at the convention. This is a step in a new direction for him as far as Thought Bubble is concerned – normally he’s in the queue for the 2000AD pitch competition!

You can find him on Akira Toriyama’s Legacy on Sunday at 11:30am, on the Dead Northern Stage, in the Travelling Man Hall. (That’s two over from where we’ll be based for the weekend.)

Will we see you at Thought Bubble 2024?

We’re in the final countdown to the UK’s biggest comic event. We’re making a list of everything we need to bring with us (including the all-important high-viz!). We can’t wait to see you all this weekend!
