Our Thought Bubble 2024
The Limit Break team were in attendance at Thought Bubble 2024 – our 4th time tabling at our favourite convention! (You can read all about the plans we had here!)
Paul and Gareth were situated at the Limit Break table, with James Killian flying under his own (new!) banner on the opposite side of the hall. There was a large Irish attendance at the convention, and (spoiler alert) almost none of us got stuck overnight in the UK after the convention. (For those who’ve been keeping count, Paul has already been stranded twice. This would have been the third year running, if his flight had been cancelled.)
Set-up was a Paul and Gareth affair:
Gary didn’t get to show up until Sunday, at which point everything was so busy…we managed to not get a picture of the three of us at the table! (Or with James, despite the fact that we were all staying together in an apartment for the weekend!)
Some highlights from the weekend include:
- Meouch getting back in print and finding its audience in Harrogate
- When the Blood Has Dried making its UK debut (a few days early!)
- Gareth’s original art finding new and loving homes
- James launching a new book in a surprise announcement a few days before the convention (link to announcement)
- Chris Imber gifting Paul the original art for his print for Wish Upon a Star
- The weirdest comic anthology out of the UK getting a shrine in a fancy hotel
We’re not making the last one up. Secrets of the Majestic (as in, Majestic Hotel) launched at the convention, and had an exhibition in a local museum. The hotel set up a display in their bar area about the book, which came as a surprise to everyone (including Chris Mole, the editor). The Red Shirts (Thought Bubble’s beloved volunteers) were discussing the book on Sunday evening when Gareth happened to be in the toilets, so our OG resident artist became a model for the night.
Thank you to everyone who came to the table over the weekend, and to the wonderful people who run Thought Bubble. We can’t wait to come back again soon!
